Description
The Peer Counselor will assist the program in providing treatment services by engaging clients to further their acceptance of services and aids staff in understanding the clients’ issues.  Along with the team as a whole, provides follow up services to assure compliance with the service plan.  Acts as a role model for the population serviced.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
A High School Diploma or General Equivalency.   Life experience with the service systems utilized by the target population.  Completion of a Peer counselor Training Program, preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
 
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Assist the team in engaging the client population.
  • Assist with obtaining necessary client information to ensure appropriate services.
  • Participate in treatment planning meetings
  • Escort clients to appointments/referrals and assist with transportation.
  • Performs related duties as requested.
EFFECT ON END RESULTS: 
  • Clients will accept appropriate program and community services.
  • Provides a positive role model for clients.
  • Enhances interactions between clients and workers, leading to effective services.
